It was a big end of week for the Greensburg Salem Marching Band and Drumline with five performances in two days.
Friday morning began at 6:00 am as the GS Marching Band was selected as WTAE's Band of the Week. We performed live for the morning news broadcast in cold, rainy conditions. But I think we can all agree it was a fun performance and one that we will not forget.
That was only the beginning as the school day ended with the afternoon parade through the halls and then at Highlands for the football game. Even with the lack of sleep, all three performances were outstanding and made for an exhausting, but memorable day.
While most were able to sleep in on Saturday, we were back at it again in the morning marching in the Fort Ligonier Days Parade. With well over 100 groups in the parade, including 18 marching bands, the GS Drumline put together a solid performance and brought joy to many faces along the parade route. There was plenty of dancing and air drumming from kids and adults alike.
The long two-day stretch was capped off with a strong opening performance for the Saint Vincent Band Festival.
In all, between television and spectators, the drumline performed for an audience of at least 100,000 between Friday and Saturday and without a doubt entertained all who watched.
